iMafia 3

Category: Games

Company: PlayMesh

Rating:

Version: PlayMesh

Size: 3.3 MB

Price: Free

Update: I couldn't even find iMafia in the Apple Appstore search. It looks like end of the road... So disappointing. I was about to post the pawn shop, real estate and bar quests tables.

I have been playing iMafia 3 for quite a while. This is another Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG) just like World War, which has pretty simplistic graphics but uses statistics as the main gameplay. Reminds me of the good old days of Koei games like Gengkhis Khan, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, except multiplayer now. Nevertheless, addictive.

Unlike World War which emphasizes more on defense, iMafia III is completely opposite and stresses more on offense.

Why?

Firstly, iMafia 3 only loses 0.1 % of money on hand per fight. Banking costs 10% i.e. you have to lose 100 fights which you will be in the services or hospital before that. You attack once successfully and you can get back what you have lost.

Secondly, most weapons/armor/vechicles have a higher attack rating compared to defense at the same level i.e. there is no way to defend unless you have more than 4x the number of mafia members (factoring successful critical and failed evade).

Thirdly, there is no static defense to assist you unlike World War.

The income from properties will take you forever to buy Mafia members (mm) at higher levels. It is only to sustain your upkeep which I also find it difficult to keep up esp. starting with artillery.

Strategy:
  1. Download all Playmesh games to get all the Armani Suits to even the playing field first
  2. If you have enough $$$, buy a mm
  3. Buy batches of 10 properties at a time
  4. Equip all mm with the best attacking weapons/armor/vechicles
  5. Upgrade Critical & Evade (c&e) to the max (45%)
  6. Upgrade Stamina
  7. Bounty hunt all the time (even with a 1 damage, you will eventually strike a lottery)
Suicidesquad which is level for level even with me is much more successful than me, because of the fact that he bounty hunts all the time (more loses than wins).

MicroSIM Cutter

Well, if you are worried that you may miscut your SIM to a MicroSIM and it does not work, I saw this MicroSIM Cutter product. Personally, I have NOT used them yet so I cannot give you an evaluation. But if you are interested, I saw a few websites:

http://www.cutmysim.com/
http://buymicrosimcutter.com/
http://microsim-solutions.com/cutters.html

If you are worried, there are also MicroSIM adapters to convert back to SIM, which I will cover in my next post. I am getting a MicroSIM adapter from a local seller and I will tell you more about it.

Convert Sim to Micro-SIM

I walked the talk by cutting the SIM to Micro-SIM myself with this measurements and tested it to be working.

*I take no responsibility for any damage to your SIM card, mobile phone, iPad or any other equipment.

IMPORTANT: Print 1-to-1 on an A4 size paper and follow the instructions.

Download Cut SIM to Micro-SIM pdf

Remember to round the corners opposite the notch carefully or I recommend to use a nail filer or sand paper. Good luck!

Next post, I will cover micro-SIM cutters if you are skeptical.

MiFi for iPad WiFi

Did you say your iPad has no 3G? Fret not. Use MiFi, battery operated Mobile Broadband device.

Since I am selling my iPad WiFi only, this is the workaround that makes your iPad WiFi acts like 3G. Connects up to 5 WiFi devices like your iPad WiFi on the go. Just carry this small device with you and you have a iPad "3G" on the Go, Go, Go.

I inquired that the Singtel Huawei 5832 uses a propietary "camera type" battery that charges with USB from Notebook/PC or iPhone type 3-point plug interface. Active time of 4 hours, standby time of 100 hours. E5832 has dualband 3G (900/1800 MHz).

How much: SingTel BroadBand on Mobile customers can sign up for its BroadBand on Mobile 7.2Mbps plan at a special promotional price of $34.50 (24-month contract).

The plan offers: Free Huawei E5832 USB modem

Download and upload speeds of 7.2Mbps and 1.5Mbps respectivel
50GB of mobile data
100 SMS and 20 MMS monthly

Yet to check out M1 and Starhub.

PS: Btw, a quick explanation of terms here. Wi-Fi stands for Wireless Fidelity (IEEE 802.11b wireless networking). Then what is MiFi? I believe it stands for Mobile (Broadband) Fidelity.

Cut SIM to Micro SIM Card for iPad

This morning, my friend's new iPad 3G 64Gb arrived from the USA! The only problem was, it had an AT&T MicroSIM and as yet there is no such thing in Singapore yet. He has done it and it is working!

So what's the solution? Get a chopping board, a meat cleaver and a pair of scissors - simple! - Credits to John Benson.

Above is a picture of the SIM cards - as you can see, they vary a lot, but the only parts that matter to us are the contacts which are common to the MicroSIM and SIM. Electronically, the SIM and MicroSIM are the same so we can cut the rest away and not worry (so long as we are careful).

Cut along the score line carefully. Once you have done this, line the top of the SIM with the MicroSIM and you should see that the contacts are aligned.

To begin with, line up the three contact on the MicroSIM with the same ones on the SIM card. You can just look for the 2 centre lines and make sure they are in line and that the top of the MicroSIM is straight. Then get your meat cleaver and press down gently to score a straight line.

Repeat the process with the meat cleaver and scissors, then you should have a SIM which is almost the right size, save for the top edge and corner.

Turn the SIM & MicroSIM round 180 degrees, line up the bottom and repeat with the meat cleaver, then cut along the score line once again.

The SIM should now be the same height as the MicroSIM - we are halfway there!

Line up the centre of the MicroSIM with the SIM so that we can be sure it will be aligned within the iPad.

Cut off the corner of the SIM card - you can just use the meat cleaver for this if it is nice & sharp.

Your SIM card is almost ready to go in to your iPad. As you can see, the AT&T MicroSIM has slightly rounded corners.

Use your meat cleaver to take off the tiniest of amounts. Remember, you can take more off, but you can't put it back on.

Your SIM should now fit in your iPad MicroSIM tray.

Once again, repeat the process with the meat cleaver and scissors, then you should have a SIM which is the same size apart from the corner.

You should see your network indicator change to the network of your SIM card - well done!

Gently insert it in to your iPad 3G.

Go in to Settings, Cellular Data

Press the Home button on your iPad, go in to Safari and browse away with your new 3G iPad!

Then go in to APN and enter the access point.
